An experienced print and digital media veteran with a culinary degree and a diverse array of creative and professional experience, I am the former Editor-in-Chief of SAVEUR magazine, a James Beard Award-winning cookbook author and journalist, and a small business founder in upstate New York. After nearly two decades working exclusively in media, I recently designed and founded Little North, a farm-fresh kitchen and high-style retail market in New York’s Catskills region, where I was able to apply years of creative, culinary, and editorial skills to my first physical location. My latest cookbook Piatti: Plates and Platters for Sharing, Inspired by Italy is a modern look at the art of making Italian-inspired antipasti. The book hit Amazon’s Top 10 of all Bestsellers in its first week, and the book and I have been featured by NPR’s Morning Edition, Oprah Magazine, CBS, People magazine, Forbes, Departures, New York Magazine’s Grub Street, and more.
After a full creative redesign and re-launch, I led SAVEUR magazine to two “General Excellence” nominations in the American Society of Magazine Editors awards, and my design direction was granted AdWeek’s “Hottest Design and Photography” award across digital and print media brands. I’ve written for Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Vogue, NPR, Conde Nast Traveler, Forbes, Men’s Journal, Oprah, Rachael Ray, SELF, Details, and many more. I am a graduate of Wake Forest University and the Institute of Culinary Education's Culinary Arts program in New York City, and trained inside the kitchen of farm-to-table pioneer Peter Hoffman's former Savoy restaurant in Manhattan, as well as under master baker Sim Cass of Balthazar bakery. I was Rachael Ray’s Food Editor for five years, and am also the author of several cookbooks beyond PIATTI, including the James Beard Award-winning Nopalito (Ten Speed Press, Spring 2017), an authentic Mexican cookbook with the chef from San Francisco's Nopalito restaurant. I co-authored Around the Fire (Ten Speed Press, Spring 2016) with the James Beard Award-winning chefs from Ox restaurant in Portland, and have ghost-written cookbooks for celebrity chefs.
I am a mom of two and an ongoing consultant for editorial and marketing projects, retail operations and design, and brand and content strategy. I have consulted for brands like Mutti Pomodoro, Prior, and more.
